Area seniors compete in GRC/CMC all star game

The second annual Granite Ridge Conference (GRC) vs. Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) All Star Game was hosted by Pierz, March 28.
In the girls game, the CMC team won 53-42, led by a balanced scoring attack. Kinlee Swanson of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa had a team-best eight points.
Local players Shelbie Boser and Kendra Fischer of Pierz each had six points.
The GRC was led by McKayla Paggen of Milaca, who had 18 points and was named the game’s MVP.
The boys game was exciting, and came down to an overtime finish. In the end the GRC boys won 107-95, dominating in the extra period.
Levi Hunt of Milaca was the MVP, as he had a team-best 28 points for the GRC squad.
Local players Kyle Kabanuk and Thomas Bell of Little Falls had 20 and four points respectively for the GRC team.
CMC’s team was led by Brett Mattice of Eden Valley-Watkins with 30 points. Matt Vasilj of Holdingford had nine points, and Grant Bullert, also from Holdingford, scored one two-point bucket.
The games were created last year to showcase the area’s talented seniors.
