ECFE serves 100-plus children

To the Editor:

The Little Falls Community Schools Early Childhood Education program incorporates two programs that are open to all families. Preschool and ECFE.

Preschool is an early learning program for children ages three – five years. Currently we are offering eight sections of preschool within our three elementary schools. We serve over 100 children. Within the past three years, we have nearly doubled the amount of preschool classes offered. That growth shows the strength and demand of our programs, but also our growing need for space.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for all families with children between the ages of birth to kindergarten entrance. ECFE is based on the idea that the parent is the child’s first and most important teacher. Currently, we offer 12 different family education classes, serving over 120 children and 84 families.

Space is currently our biggest need to be able to expand our programs to meet the needs of families and children.

Please vote “yes” on May 19, to support plans for an Early Childhood wing attached to Lincoln Elementary. We have a growing and exciting program, and we appreciate your support as we look to the future of education with our district’s youngest learners. — Stacy Gold, Little Falls

As this is actually a third issue of the referendum, perhaps it should have been question 3 on the ballot.

From looking at the ECFE website schedule, there are plenty of “openings” available…there is no need for a $2.4 million addition.
