The Little Falls VFW baseball team’s season is under way. The team has played three pair of doubleheaders (only the first games count for league standings) since the June 8 opener.
In the opening doubleheader, Little Falls split with Buffalo.
Little Falls lost the first game to Buffalo, 7-5.
Little Falls led early on, but four runs in the fourth gave Buffalo the lead for good.
Adam Josephson led Little Falls with a pair of hits and scored twice.
Little Falls won game two 11-5. It scored eight runs in the first inning. Jake Kapp- hahn was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored.
Little Falls beat St. Cloud Red (Apollo) 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader, June 11.
Josephson pitched for the win on the hill, and scored the winning run in the sixth inning on a Brett Czajkow- ski single to help in the win.
AJ Jenks and Joe Alholm each had two hits.
Little Falls won game two as well in dramatic fashion.
After blowing a five-run lead in the fifth, Landon Johnson scored the game-winning run in the bottom half of the inning.
Anthony Vetter was 2-for-4 in the win.
The final doubleheader for Little Falls was at St. Cloud Blue (Cathedral), June 16.
Little Falls lost 10-2 in game one, as Blue scored four in the third, three in the fourth and another in the sixth to earn the win.
Poser was 2-for-2.
Little Falls bounced back to win game two 9-3 over St. Cloud.
Little Falls trailed 3-0, but scored three in the third to tie the game. The team scored six more times, once in the fourth and five times in the fifth.
Austin Weisz had a two-run double, and Vetter went 3-for-5.
Little Falls VFW (4-2 overall, 1-2 league play) also played Thursday at home against Pierz, but results were unavailable by press time.
The next game will be at Brainerd, Monday.
