Local group seeks to preserve historic fire hall building in Bowlus

The “Friends of the Fire Hall” are hoping to preserve the historical fire hall building in Bowlus.

Residents of Bowlus recently formed a non-profit group in favor of preserving the historic stone building in its city, after the Bowlus City Council discussed the possibility of either selling the building or tearing it down.  The group calls itself “Friends of the Fire Hall.”

Jordie Stay, a resident and business owner in Bowlus said the building was built in 1937, as a Works Progess Administration (WPA) project and initially, became the village hall and a jail.
