Men from Holdingford and Foley dead after five-car accident in Mille Lacs County

A man from Foley and one from Holdingford died and a Holdingford woman was seriously injured after they were involved in a five-vehicle accident in Mille Lacs County, Sunday, July 31, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Travis A. Kiel, 35, Foley, was eastbound on Highway 23 about 2:27 p.m. and was preparing to turn left to head north on 160th Avenue, when his Kia Optima was rear-ended by a Pontiac, driven by Ryan A. Allen, 19, of Milaca.
Kiel’s vehicle then rolled into the westbound traffic lane in front of two Harley Davidsons, driven by Robert H. Ehrlichman Jr. 62, and Brenda M. Ehrlichman, 52, both of Holdingford.
Robert Ehrlichman’s Harley collided with the passenger side of Kiel’s vehicle, lodging itself in the Kia and ejecting Ehrlichman from his cycle.
Kiel’s vehicle then began spinning across the westbound lanes. A Minnetonka teen, Jonathan G. Darby Jr., 17, had stopped to assist at the crash scene, when Kiel’s vehicle spun into the wheel of the Mercedes, causing no damage.
Robert Ehrlichman and Kiel were both pronounced dead. Brenda Ehrlichman received serious injuries and Allen and Darby received no apparent injuries.
