The Little Falls VFW baseball team’s deep postseason run came to an end in the semifinals, Tuesday.

A win over Cold Spring would have put Little Falls into the district title game, and the Flyers appeared to be on their way, leading 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

However, Cold Spring scored six runs in the inning to nap the lead for good.

Jake Kapphahn led Little Falls VFW in the loss with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, a double and an RBI.

Little Falls began the playoff run with a 5-4 win over No. 2 seed Monticello, July 29.

Sam Himely earned the win on the mound. Mason Dempsey clubbed two hits and drove in a run. Joe Alholm scored two runs in the win.

Little Falls won later that day over Becker, 5-0.

Kapphahn had his best game of the tournament, tossing a no-hitter on the mound, and also leading the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and two runs scored.

Ben Sowada added a double and two RBIs.

Little Falls fell to eventual champion Foley, 4-3, in a battle of unbeaten teams.

The loss happened despite a two double day by Himley and two hits by Alholm.

The Little Falls VFW team finished the year with a 12-8 overall record.
