Michael James Flahave was born Oct. 15, 1953, in Little Falls, to the proud parents of John and Rita (Welinski) Flahave. Mike was a family man; loving husband, father, brother, and favorite “Papa” to eight grandchildren. He was proud to have served his country and community for the majority of his life with service to the U.S. Army, National Guard and Little Falls Fire Department. He was also a lifetime member of the Little Falls VFW Post #1112 and current member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Mike loved the outdoors, be it hunting, fishing, golfing, or simply relaxing on the deck.

Mike was united in marriage to Kathy Flahave (Johnson) on Sept. 25, 1976. They were fortunate enough to be able to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on the North Shore this past September with friends and family. Mike and Kathy had taken several trips in recent years, going with the notion that they wanted to do as much while they were young and healthy. A trip Mike had long wanted to do was an Alaskan cruise which he and Kathy embarked on August 2016. Mike was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by loving wife of 40 years, Kathy Flahave of Little Falls; children, Bryan (Amanda) Flahave of Little Falls, Amy (Jesse) Oothoudt of Little Falls and Lyndsey (Todd) Anderson of Moorhead; grandchildren, Brenna, Ali, Caylyn, Aiden, Rayna, Michael, Cecily and Kohen; brothers, Robert (Edie) Flahave of Royalton, Thomas (Lori) Flahave of Little Falls, Patrick (Patty) Flahave of Elk River and Tim (Patty) Flahave of Royalton; sisters, Patricia (Denny) Hamilton of St. Cloud, Mary Flahave of Little Falls, Kathy (Roger) Ackerman of Little Falls, Colleen (Gerald) Pasch of Bowlus, Nancy (Mark) Sibenaller of Lonsdale, Tracy (Noah) Smith of Hillsboro, Ore., Jeanne (Ron) Beam of Little Falls and Ann Marie Flahave of Oregon; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rita Flahave.
