Three wrestlers each from Royalton-Upsala and Holdingford earned a spot at the Class A State Wrestling Tournament at the Section 5A Meet in New London-Spicer, Feb. 24-25.

Three Royals wrestlers moved on to state, with junior Jason Kasella earning a section title.

Kasella pinned his opponent in the championship match to earn the title.

The other two state qualifiers were sophomore Jackson Held (132) and senior Michael Petron (138), who were both runners-up.

Held fell 10-6 in the championship, but won by rule in the true second match.

Petron wrestled in an epic title match, but eventually fell 3-2. He then went to win by rule in the true second match to advance to state.

One Royalton-Upsala wrestler was narrowly defeated, pinned late, to earn third. Cole Wentland did earn a pin of his own to secure third place.

Holdingford also had three qualifiers for state, with one, heavyweight Walker Nienaber earning a section title.

The other two Huskers state qualifiers, senior Nolan Prokott (182) and Tony Kierstead (220) each were runners-up for the Huskers.
