Royalton set two school records and tied another in a crucial 68-65 win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Feb. 24.
The two teams were tied at 31 at halftime, before the threes started falling for the Royals.
Royalton shot 66.7 percent from the field and an even more impressive 70.6 percent from deep. Both were school records. The Royals’ 12 three-point makes was tied for a school record.
Junior Brock Snyder scored a team-best 28 points in the big victory. Sophomore Gavin Suska had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.
The Royals also won 73-27 over Isle, Tuesday.
The Royals (9-14) were given the No. 7 seed in the Section 6AA West Tournament. They will travel to Sauk Centre, Thursday.
Swanville,Upsala will likely meet in playoffs
Based on standings as of press time, it will likely be Swanville that hosts Upsala in the Section 5A South Tournament.
Upsala lost three times recently to fall to 3-23, recently.
The Cardinals lost 60-34 against St. John’s Prep. Feb. 24.
Dalton Dingmann led Upsala with 11 points.
The Cardinals were also beaten, 70-57 by Mayer Lutheran, Monday.
Upsala was down by just seven with less than a minute left in the contest. Both Myron Ripplinger and Jorgan Kiley each had 25 points. Ripplinger grabbed 10 boards as well.
Lastly, Upsala was beaten 66-44 against Osakis, Tuesday.
Kiley had 11 points to lead the Cardinals.
Swanville lost its only game of the week, falling 58-45 at Pine River-Backus, Feb. 23.
Swanville and Royalton ended the regular season against each other, Friday, but results were unavailable by press time.
