Royalton sinks Swanville in season finale

Swanville closed out the year with a 67-43 loss at Royalton, Feb. 23.

Royalton was led by sophomore Jenna Carlson’s 24 points and six rebounds.

Freshmen Cierra Gottwalt added 12 points and
Allyson Waletski had 11 for the Royals.

Royalton hit a school-record 13 three-pointers in the game, several of which were in the second half.

“This team is really learning how to share the ball,” said Royals head coach Ron Makela. “They do a great job setting up their teammates.”

Royalton’s regular season record was 14-10, including a second place 9-3 in the Prairie Conference.

Royalton traveled to play No. 3 Albany in the Section 6AA West quarterfinals, Thursday, but results were unavailable by press time.

Swanville was 9-15 overall.

Upsala came into the game at Swanville with losses against Osakis, 35-75 and at home against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, 44-69.

The Cardinals’ regular season record was 8-18.
