Pierz man leads officers on high speed chase before being arrested

Morrison County deputies were led on a 10-mile high speed chase through Lastrup and into Buh Township, Tuesday, March 14.
The incident leading to the pursuit started about 4:14 p.m., when a deputy dealing with an unrelated matter near the intersection of 183rd Street and 255th Avenue, just north of Pierz, saw a vehicle stop behind him. The driver told the deputy that they had been assaulted earlier in the day by the person sitting in the front passenger seat of their vehicle.
Deputies began talking to the suspect in the passenger seat and instructed him to step out, when he moved into the driver’s seat and took off in the vehicle. The pursuit continued through the city of Lastrup, ending on 203rd Street east of 225th Avenue in Buh Township, reaching speeds of near 90 miles per hour. The chase ended with the lead squad car performed a pursuit intervention technique, which stopped the suspect vehicle. Deputies arrested Derrick Miner, 26, of Pierz, who is being held at the Morrison County Jail awaiting formal charges.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pierz Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
