Upsala Drama Club presents spring musical, April 7-9

The Upsala Drama Club presents their spring musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, April 7 – 9, in the Upsala auditorium.

The musical follows the story of the classic 1991 animated film and includes classic and familiar songs like “Be Our Guest,” “Belle,” “Something There,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” The musical also adds a few new tunes.

Belle, played by Rachel Prom, is a young woman who is taken prisoner by a hideous beast, played by Ben Blonigen. Despite her situation, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff. Belle ultimately learns to see beneath the Beast’s exterior to discover the heart of a prince.

Other main characters include Gaston (Andrew Prokott), LeFou (Andy Ripplinger), Mrs Potts (Samantha Blonigen), Cogsworth (Stefani Pohlmann), Lumiere (Jarick Riefer), Babette (Noelle Kedrowski), Madame Bouche (Kennedy Allen), Maurice (Isaac Guthrie), Chip (Christina Fiedler) and Monsieur d’Arque (Brandon Young).

Rounding out the cast are Mia Roerick, Ana Woidyla, Annika Gunderson, Cheryl Zimmerman, Gabe Douvier, Bennett Westrich, Cody Rahn, Audrey Thomas, Manny Pedersen, Colin Prom, Alexis Krebs, Jenna Ripplinger, Caitlyn Douvier, Lynsey Baggenstoss, Shelby Krebs, Alex Roerick, Alice Hebig, Anthony Nienaber, Emily Blonigen, Gracie George, Jessica Lange, Ann Blonigen, Kylie Roerick, Micah Ripplinger, Michael Young, Olivia Hollerman, Olivia Peterson, Zaidee Lundeen and Dylan Yurczyk.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, April 9. Tickets will be available at the door.
