Royalton and Upsala Swanville Area (USA) experienced a similar pair of games on the diamond recently.

The Royals blew out Eden Valley-Watkins 10-1, but fell, 4-2, to a strong Osakis squad.

USA was edged, 3-2, by a good Isle team, but cruised to a 6-3 win over Browerville-Eagle Valley, Tuesday.

Nathan Psyck went the distance in both victories for the Royals. Against the Eagles, he struck out 12, allowing only one run on five hits. Against Osakis, he was tagged for four runs on six hits, striking out only six.

In the victory, the Royals hitting attack was balanced, as eight players rapped hits, and four earned RBI.

Caleb Smieja clubbed a pair of hits and scored twice.

In the loss to the Silver Streaks, the Royals were led by senior Ryan Fussy, who drove in both Royalton runs on a double.

The Royals (1-2), will host St. John’s Prep, Tuesday.

USA began with a 3-2 loss at Isle, April 7.

Peyton Jackson gave the Patriots a lead with a two-out, two-run single in the top of the second.

However, two errors led to two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game.

Isle took the lead in the bottom of the third and never looked back.

Levi Beseman and Troy Evans combined for three innings of no-hit relief after the third run was scored.

USA bounced back with a 6-3 win over the Tigers, Tuesday.

Senior Travis Barthel ripped two base hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Fellow seniors Beseman and Eric Koetter each had three hits in the victory as well.

USA (1-1) will travel to  try its luck at Osakis, Tuesday.
