Pierz girls stay steady in third

The Pierz girls golf team hosted the rest of its Central Minnesota Conference (CMC) cohorts at a meet at Pierz Golf Course, Thursday.

The Pioneers finished in third place at the meet, May 11 with a 201 score.

Eighth grader Ellie Fischer took sixth place for the Pioneers, leading them with a 48.

Katie LeBlanc shot a 49 and Kami Athman shot a 50 to help the Pierz girls.

The Pioneers traveled to Paynesville and Koronis Hills for another CMC Meet, Monday.

Pierz had its best day of the CMC season, shooting a 198.

Athman paced the Pioneers with a 47, which tied her for seventh place.

LeBlanc and senior Brittany Talberg both shot a strong 48.

Following the two meets, the Pioneers remain in third place in the CMC season standings.

After five meets, Pierz’ total is 1,019. The Pioneers are 95 strokes out of second place and 45 strokes ahead of fourth with two meets to go.

The final two nine-hole meets were both hosted by Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Osakis, Friday, but results were unavailable by press time.

The Pioneers will be off until the final regular season meet at Wapicada, May 31.
