To the Editor:
We are writing to encourage support for the upcoming Pierz referendum.
We understand it is a tax increase, but the fact is, we have benefited from the lowest taxes in the area for quite some time.
In fact, we were quite surprised to recently learn that the local taxes we are paying now in 2017 are the same dollar amount that we paid 25 years ago in 1992.
We have saved money because of the increased number of children coming into our schools. This new revenue has paid for things we all benefit from. Even with this new project, our taxes would still be below what most are in our area. These projects are needed and will allow us to continue bringing more people into our communities.
Right now we have great momentum in our schools with young families wanting their children to be here. This momentum has also caused more people to want to move here.
We have an opportunity to invest in our community and provide some long-term stability for our area. Lots of rural schools and towns all over our state would like to have this chance, to continue to grow and build upon that success.
Please say yes and support the future for all of us.
