Roy Hauer

Roy Hauer, a lifetime resident of Brainerd, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Roy was born Oct. 13, 1924, in Brainerd to the late Charles O. and Blanch (Nash) Hauer. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1944. He attended Dunwoody College of Technology. He and his two brothers, Charlie and Derall formed Hauer Bros. Electric in Little Falls in 1949. Roy was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and he served as president of Minnesota Electrical Association in 1964 – 1965.
Roy is survived by his nieces, Mary (Cam) Anderson, Onalee (Larry) Lindborg and his nephew, Chuck (Jane) Hauer; six grand nieces and nephews and four great-grandnieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his two brothers, Charlie and Derall Hauer.
Roy will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, his love of the outdoors, and his sense of humor and his famous Christmas nut cakes. Roy was blessed to have the support of wonderful, loving neighbors along with the exceptional caregivers from Home Instead.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Paul Strommer officiating. Visitation will begin the hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
