The Swanville Mid-Summer Carnival, hosted by the Swanville Lions, has been a summertime must attend event for more than a half a century. Held the first weekend after the Fourth of July holiday, the carnival draws folks from far and wide. This year’s 55th annual event will be held in Swanville Friday – Sunday, July 7 – 9.
The festivities begin Friday at 5 p.m. when the midway opens and the Swanville Lions begin dishing up their famous barbecue chicken, which will be served all weekend. New this year is a whiskey garden on site. A dance with live music by “The Fabulous Armadillos” begins at 8:30 p.m.
The midway, chicken shack and beer garden open at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 8. Everyone is invited to dance to live music by “Switch,” beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The last day of the carnival, Sunday, July 9, features a parade, beginning at 11:30 a.m., with the opening of the midway, chicken shack and beer garden at noon. Beginning at 1 p.m., Alan Godage and Sundown Band will provide live music.
The big cash raffle drawing will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.
