Little Falls VFW earns fourth league victory

Wins over Sauk Rapids and Sartell helped put the Little Falls VFW baseball team up to four wins.

The first of the wins came Monday as the VFW team won 8-2 over Sauk Rapids.

Travis Wenzel allowed one earned run on five hits with 12 strikeouts in a complete game. He also blasted a home run.

Alex Gwost hit a pair of doubles.

In game two, the Flyers fell 17-11 to Sauk Rapids in a slug fest.

Little Falls trailed 17-3, but came back by scoring eight in the next two innings.

Ethan Wickstrom went 3-for-4 with a double, while Ryan Buckallew was 2-for-4.

Little Falls won its final league game, a 3-0 shut out of Sartell, Wednesday.

Caleb Strack went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits and four strikeouts.

Nik Durfee went 4-for-4.

Brady Shelstad was also perfect, going 3-for-3 for the Flyers.

The Flyers did fall, 7-3, to Sartell in the second game.

Alex Gwost hit two doubles in the loss.

Little Falls (6-16 overall, 4-7 league) will finish off the season in a game against St. Cloud Tech, Monday.
