The Morrison County Relay for Life, an event in the county since 1991, brought in more than $67,000 so far (more may be coming in), for the American Cancer Society. Ten teams, made up of 90 walkers, and corporate sponsors are responsible for the fundraising. More than 1,000 luminaries lined the walkways at the Morrison County Fairgrounds in honor of those surviving cancer or those who have fallen victim to the disease. During a special moment, courtesy of Shelley Funeral Chapels, survivors and those they love expressed hope with the dove release. Those releasing doves included (from left): Trisha Geschwill, Beth Zilka, Kelly Kimman, Kate Houle, Carlos Ochoa, Darlene Saarela, Ken Schreiber (thank you Laura Olson Czech for the name), Tom Vosen, Judy Vosen, Marsha Krebs and Marlys Atkinson.
At right, a younger generation of friends is already fighting back against cancer and its affects, volunteering their time, talent and a little fun (from left): Celia, 10, and Gracie, 9, daughters of Sarah and Jeff Rustad, and, Amber, 10, daughter of Derek and Jessie Dunn. The co-chairs for the 2018 Morrison County Relay for Life will be Melissa Prozinski and Kate Houle. Planning for the 2018 event begins in January. There is a gentleman in the photo above that no one has been able to identify. If anyone knows who this gentleman is, please call Terry at the Record office, (320) 616-1917, and he will be identified in a future edition.
