Region field set after division playoffs wrap up

The Randall Cubs played their final game of the season as they were knocked out of the West Division playoffs in a 7-4 loss to Upsala,

The game was tied 1-1 a piece until the bottom of the seventh, when the Blue Jays scored four runs on seven hits to take a lead.

After Upsala scored twice more in the eighth, Randall made a short-lived comeback effort. The Cubs scored three runs in the ninth, but could not chase down a win.

Brandon Welinski scored twice for Upsala in the victory, while Ben Burggraff was 2-for-4 with a run and what turned out to be the go-ahead RBI.

Matt Otremba led the Cubs with a pair of hits and an RBI.

Jason Sadlovsky returned to rip thee hits in three attempts.

Lastrup eliminated the Pierz Bulldogs in an East Division contest.

Brad Meyer shut out the Bulldogs, 12-0 in seven innings.

Craig Luberts led the Bulldogs with a double.

St. Stephen knocked off Freeport, Saturday, July 22, and Nisswa edged Aitkin.

Sunday, July 23, Buckman edged Lastrup, 3-2.

Mark Kahl drove in Matt Tautges for Buckman to score the game-winner.

Sobieski earned his division title winner with a 14-4 victory over Upsala in seven inn.

Beau Hanowski, Collin Eckman and Dan Marod all cleared the fences.

Upsala’s John Fuchs hit a three-run homer, his only run.

Thomas Miller earned the win for the Skis, allowing just one run on three hits.

The Region 8C playoffs began Saturday, July 30 with the one and two seed’s, playing each other in Pierz.
