The Little Falls football team lost its season opener, 36-20 at Dassel-Cokato (DC) Chargers, Sept. 1.

The Flyers trailed 14-0 early in the second quarter, but clawed their way back into the game with a quarterback sneak from senior Michael Gross.

The score would stay that way until another Chargers touchdown in the third quarter.

However, the Flyers would answer back again with a two yard plunge from senior Jake Kapphahn.

After yet another DC score, Gross hit fellow senior Gage Larsen for a 21-yard score, bringing the game within one score once again.

Little Falls got the ball back with a little over three minutes left, but failed to get out of their own territory, turning the ball back over to DC, who scored the final TD with 1:26 left to cap off the win.

Gross passed for 214 yards on 18-of-30 with the lone TD to Larsen and one pick. Larsen grabbed one other ball for 49 yards.

Kapphahn carried the ball 20 times for 91 yards.

Senior Aaron nabbed three balls for 65 yards for Little Falls.

The Little Falls defense allowed 207 yards to DC on the ground on 31 attempts, a 6.7 yards per carry average.

Little Falls hosted Delano for its home opener, Friday, but results were not available by press time.

The Flyers will be on the road at Albany, Friday, for the Granite Ridge Conference opener.

Little Falls were beaten 19-0 by Albany a year ago.
