The Swanville School Board approved, Wednesday a preliminary levy increase of 8.14 percent.
Last year’s levy was set at $744,364. With this year’s increase of $60,532, the levy was approved at $804,927.
“Even though we raised the levy this year, let’s not forget that the levy was decreased last year by 9 percent,” Supt. Gene Harthan said at Wednesday’s Board meeting.
When a preliminary levy is set, the Board have the option to decrease it later on. However, it may not increase it, Harthan told the Board. The superintendent said he doesn’t anticipate the levy will decrease when the Board makes it final decision at the School Board meeting in December.
