Draw near to God for comfort and peace

In the midst of all that we see going on in our world, it is so comforting to draw near to the God of our salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our rock in a weary land, the strength of our life, our peace, wisdom and the lover of our soul.

For us to experience his benefits, we need to develop an awareness of his love for us. We need to seek his presence and wait for him with expectancy.

In Jesus giving his life for us, he chose us. Now it is our turn to choose him.

I remember the days that I would never miss a church service, yet did not experience any of this. I was mostly fulfilling a religious obligation. One day I wanted more, I grew hungry for God wanting to experience him. I would even ask others, “Hey, do you know how I can get in touch with God?”

I did get some of the strangest looks: “Hey man, daaah! Go to church!” But I did go to church. I even made a retreat and it only made me more desperate.

I remember at the end crying out to God: “Lord if you don’t take over in my life, nothing is going to change.”

That is where he met me and I have never been the same since.

I never realized that he was waiting for my call, to surrender my life to him, to be cleansed from my sin and grow in relationship with him as his child.

He got me out of my religious performance-based mentality to a love walk with him, and he made me his dwelling place

The Bible says in Acts 17:28: “For in him we live and move and have our being.”

He loved us so much that he gave his life for us on the cross of Calvary to set us free from our sins through the blood that he shed for us, so we can live, free of guilt, shame and fear, in and through him.

He is not a religion but a real person who desires an intimate relationship with us. He loves our praises and invades them with his presence. We are never alone, he is always with us.

Psalms 67:5: “Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 6: Then the earth shall yield her increase God, our own God, shall bless us. 7: God shall bless us, And all the ends of the earth shall fear him.” NKJV

He created the heavens and the earth and all that is there. He created us to have dominion in his name and live our life out of his kingdom realm.

Now, we have a choice — we can be filled with all that is wrong in this world and in our opinion of it and be overwhelmed by it. Or, we can function out of the life we have in him and trust him for his wisdom and grace to deal with the issues of this life.

Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6: In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. 7: Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8: It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.” NKJV

Hebrews 7:25: “Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” NKJV

He longs to dwell in us, in his love, wisdom. grace and power.

Jeremiah 33:3: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” NKJV
