For the past 10 months, community members have been exploring the idea of a property development cooperative targeted at buying and redeveloping distressed properties in downtown Little Falls. The concept is that by working together and pooling local resources, Little Falls can transform the large, empty or under-utilized buildings in the heart of downtown into vibrant businesses.
On Sunday, Oct. 15, the Little Falls Property Development Cooperative officially launches its ownership campaign. Everyone interested in learning more or becoming an owner in the cooperative is invited to the meeting starting at 6 p.m. at Great River Arts Center in Little Falls.
Since the first meeting in January, a steering committee has researched the organizational structure, talked with potential partners and outlined a plan to move forward. In September, the steering committee incorporated as the Little Falls Property Development Cooperative. At the Oct. 15 meeting, the steering committee will review the vision of the cooperative and the steps taken to date, discuss ownership and offer attendees the opportunity to become an owner in the cooperative.
All community members are encouraged to attend to help shape the future of Little Falls’ downtown. No financial commitment is required to attend the meeting.
