2010 Census data shows increase in minority populations in Morrison County

According to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, there was an increase in minority populations in Morrison County from 2000 to 2010.

The data showed an increase of 98 percent in the Hispanic or Latino population, an increase of 98.4 percent in the black or African American population and a 26.2 percent increase in the Asian population.

These numbers are in contrast to the state of Minnesota which showed a 74 percent increase in the Hispanic or Latino population, a 59.8 percent increase in the black or African American population and a 50.9 percent change in the Asian population.

The total population of Morrison county grew by 4.7 percent from 2000 to 2010. The state of Minnesota’s population grew by 7.8 percent.
