The City Council approved a request from Public Works Director Greg Kimman for a professional services contract related to a new dewatering system at the city’s wastewater treatment plant not to exceed $387,700.Â
Kimman provided details on the current system and the proposed upgrade. He explained they are looking to replace the existing centrifuge with a screw press, which uses less electricity for dewatering the solid portion of wastewater after treatment. Pilots over the last year showed the screw press would better suit their needs, Kimman said.Â
